SportFight X- Ward vs Little

Birmingham, AL June 21st 2012- SportFight X “Southeastern MMA”s Ultimate Proving Ground” has announced several exciting match-ups over the past few days. The company will return to Alabama Saturday July 28th at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham. This will mark the first professional company to host a fight in the Magic City in over two and one half years and the first sanctioned by the Alabama Athletic Commission.

SportFight X made another professional bout public this morning that will take place in the welterweight division between Matt Ward and Allen Little. This fight will be the co-featured showdown prior to the Wilhite vs. Livingston Co-Main and the O’Brien vs. Miree Main Event. SportFight X Gibbs stated “This will be a real test for both fighters. Matt Ward is the single hardest fighter to match-up. Nobody wants to fight this guy, we offered the fight to several guys and they declined for various reasons. One Alabama fighter I won’t name said he wouldn’t take it because he didn’t like me and Hall’s camp didn’t feel it was a good fight for them. It’s f-n crazy!”

Matt Ward will be making his professional debut. The 23 year old Ward was (3-0) as an amateur and had a hard time getting fights due to his BJJ Purple Belt experience. Ward trains with Triad Martial Arts under Johnny Lee Smith in Cullman, AL. Ward’s most notable win came in January 2011 at SportFight X when he defeated Kyle Kohler in the first round. Kohler was the former Tennessee ISKA champion who had notable wins over fighters such as Wesley Sullivan who defeated a number of Alabama amateurs. Ward is a hard striker with an excellent ground game who has excelled in BJJ competitions across the country.

Allen Little will enter the cage against Ward looking to record his first professional win. Little is an under-rated professional at (0-2) but had an outstanding amateur career with 7 wins against only 1 defeat. Allen Little has fought extremely tough rising stars as a pro including Steve Montgomery and Mike Corvino. Little trains with the world famous Hardcore Gym in Athens, GA under Rory and Adam Singer. Hardcore has produced many UFC stars including Forrest Griffin Brian Bowles, Rory Singer and Cale Yarbrough to name a few. Little is a freestyle fighter who can weather any type of storm and has been training for three years.

Another featherweight bout was also released between Anthony Hoyt and Raul Estrada. Hoyt is a product of Spartan Fitness in Birmingham, AL under Chris Connelly. Estrada trains with Rocket City MMA in Huntsville, AL under Jason Sanderson.
