SportFight X thinking of holding open fighter tryouts.

Atlanta, GA January 25th 2011- Earlier today SportFight X announced their next event will be held Saturday March 23rd at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL. SportFight X is known for signing top level athletes and creating action packed fights in both the professional and amateur divisions. The company has an extensive roster of fighters in the states of Georgia and Tennessee making the matchmaking process less difficult.

Alabama is the newest state to sanction Mixed Martial Arts and the majority of the fighter’s records are unverifiable or unofficial. Many of the fighters have fought in the cage multiple times but will get to start with a 0-0 slate. Also, since there has not been a regulatory system many of the previous matches in the state have been unfair so a fighter who states his record is 12-2 may have never fought anyone with talent whatsoever.

The company may have derived a solution to the matchmaking dilemma that has their reputation on the line today. SportFight X is contemplating having an open fighter tryout in the coming days in search of the best local talent to fill the card. The tryout would allow SFX matchmaking to see fighters in action making sure they are correctly placed with opponents of their caliber. Fighters would get the chance to display their abilities and be screened accordingly. SportFight X President Gibbs said “We want the best of the best wherever we go but in this case it could be tough to find that by screening on paper alone. For example take Matt Ward, a purple belt in BJJ with a 1-0 record. He is on a different planet skill wise than any other 5-0 guy that I have ever seen. He destroyed the former Tennessee ISKA Champion who was 11-2 in the first round. Sometimes you really need to see what guys have to offer and this would be a good way to do that”.

It will be interesting to see if SportFight X decides to hold the tryouts. A date and time will be released Friday if it’s made official. Fighters and managers should contact matchmaker@sportfightx.com for consideration. For more information regarding the upcoming event check out www.sportfightx.com or on facebook.
