The future looks bright for mixed martial arts up-and-comer Josh Senkbeil. A football star for the University of West Alabama as well as an amateur fighter, Senkbeil impressed over the weekend by earning his first stoppage inside the cage and remaining undefeated.

Senkbeil who attends the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama trains daily and is one of UWA star fullbacks for their football program. Senkbeil has been in some type of fitness and strength training most of his adult life and has been a fan and follower of mixed martial arts for years.

After football season, Senkbeil trains regularly with Dog House MMA in Red Bay, Alabama. When not in Red Bay, he spends most of his time training in Livingston, Alabama using what he has available to his advantage.

This past weekend Senkbeil went into the cage against a very tough and strong opponent in Maurice Tunstall of Clarksville, Tennessee. Senbkeil's sanctioned record of 2-0 was put to the test against the 3-0 mark of Tunstall. Senkbeil was cornered by his brother Kyle Senkbeil and Randy Lowery.

When the bell rang both opponents came out and Tunstall was the first to begin striking. However, none of the shots landed so he immediately shot in and and took Senkbeil to the ground. Tunstall tried his best to keep the fight on the ground, but Senkbeil's defense was just too good as he was able to constantly get back to his feet.

Just after the bell rang leading into to round two, Senkbeil clocked Tunstall knocking the Tennessee-native back. Tunstall immediately went in for another takedown, which although was successful, lead to Senkbeil getting better position and ultimately taking closing his arm around Tunstall's neck in a guillotine that would end the match. The win helped Senkbeil remain undefeated.

Senkbeil is one of a handful of amateur fighters in Alabama to already have corporate sponsors and before the fight he walked out with an all new fight banner showcasing his proud sponsors and sported a new set of walkout gear he helped to create. Senkbeil plans to open an online store in the coming weeks to sell some of his all new clothing to continue to help raise money to take his training and skill to the next level.

Just last year Senkbeil trained with American Top Team in South Florida and plans to return soon.

With an incredible support team including family and fan, Senkbeil is one of Alabama's rising MMA stars to watch for in the future
